The Booker Prize, the pinnacle of fiction writing, needed a live streaming and production partner to bring a new companion show to life around the 2023 ceremony in London, UK. The show aimed to engage younger audiences through social clips and a live stream, hosted by YouTuber Jack Edwards, before throwing to the live ceremony for the winner announcement. Sunset+Vine’s unparalleled experience in live events and reaching new audiences across social channels made this the perfect partnership.
Sunset+Vine provided a technical live streaming solution in response to the Booker Prize’s simple but effective brief: ‘robust, cost effective and with top production value’. We also worked closely with Booker Prize to hone the running order and prepare pre-recorded VTs of each nominated novel to be played throughout the stream.
The four cameras fixed on the sofa set captured the conversation between Jack and various prominent guests, while two roving cameras and a dedicated social producer conveyed the glitz and glam of the ceremony, bringing book fans closer to some of the world’s leading writers and personalities.
The ceremony, at Old Billingsgate in London, crowned Prophet Song by Paul Lynch as the winner of 2023’s Booker Prize.
Our client had this to say in summary: “Perhaps a production company known for their expertise in sports coverage was not an obvious choice for bringing a prestigious annual award event for published fiction to the screen but not only did Sunset+Vine provide the fast-paced multi-location livestream and multi-platform content output we asked for, they delivered it with easy professionalism, creativity, good humour and to budget.”
