The International Canoe Federation needed a production partner to deliver host broadcast and world feed coverage of the 2023 Canoe Slalom World Championships at Lee Valley Water Park in London.
Sunset+Vine won the contract and assembled the team and technical set-up required to produce three days of live coverage with authority, clarity and fresh ideas.
Working closely with the ICF’s broadcast manager, we built a technical solution featuring 13 course cameras plus a post-race “kiss and cry” camera on the shore.
The set-up included super slow motion, in-water minicams and a jib that captured both the crowd and the racing line. Replays and analysis supported the on-site commentary team and helped make a fast, technical sport easier to follow.
Across three days, the coverage included kayak, canoe and kayak cross events — each with their own demands and storytelling rhythms.
The host broadcast was praised by British Canoeing and stood as a strong collaboration between Sunset+Vine, the ICF and its broadcast management team.
It also opened the door to new creative ideas and gave the team a valuable platform to push the coverage further in future championships.
