The International Skating Union (ISU) needed a production partner for their inaugural Short Track World Tour. With new branding around Short Track Speed Skating, arguably the most action-packed and dynamic of all the skating disciplines, the ISU wanted a content partner to elevate the storytelling around the sport to help make household names of their young and talented skaters, as well as bringing new audiences to the sport through live streaming and the very best content – on and off the ice.
Sunset+Vine created a content strategy that utilised our small but multiskilled onsite team, and took advantage of our remote live streaming, clipping and highlights operation. Our onsite team follows the tour – three shooter-producers living and breathing all things Short Track across three continents, spanning the globe. We get to know the skaters in order to tell the best stories for fans. Detailed analysis of how to take a corner or what the world’s number one skater’s training routine for the loyal die hard supporters in east Asia, North America and parts of Europe. Or for those experiencing the sport for the very first time, features that explain the rules, standings and basic principles of the sport.
These features are made with social platforms in mind, meaning they work across ISU channels first, and are adapted to work within world feed programming.
On top of the Short Track World Tour, Sunset+Vine’s remit for the ISU has grown to include live streaming and YouTube channel management across Speed Skating, Figure and Synchronised Skating, as well as creating social clips and highlights for all events in the ISU skating calendar.
Live streaming and content creation across the ISU calendar has led to millions of views across each discipline of the sport, as well as highly engaged content for Short Track and growth across all ISU channels in the early parts of the season.
